Seed to Skies - Classic Deacon Stole
Seed to Skies - Classic Deacon Stole
This stole is inspired by the layers of the forest, each one a zone of nurture and home to distinct varieties of plants and animals. The seven shades of rich Kona Cotton rising to the Sky Blue Kona Cotton at the top correspond to the following layers:
forest earth
grasses
forest flowers
ferns
shrubs
evergreen trees
sky
In the week this collection was being named, the lectionary reading was two parables in Mark 4:26-32 — the parable of the growing seed and the parable of the mustard seed. These parables hold both the mystery of life sprouting and the power of the kingdom of God starting so small and growing to great heights, becoming a home in which to build a nest.
Seed to Skies holds reminders of the mysteries of life and the inter-working of the forest strata, a complex network that offers rootedness and home.
The Classic Deacon Stole is a beautifully cut stole that is 3” wide at the top and has ends that taper slightly to 4” wide. It sits smoothly on the shoulder and conforms easily to any shoulder size.
(Kindly note: I do not have a physical Seed to Skies Classic Deacon Stole to show yet, but please refer to the drawing to see what the design would look like. This is a re-imagined design based on the Priest Stole version of the same design.)
