the Raphael - Classic Deacon Stole
Named for St. Raphael the Archangel, the patron saint of travelers, matchmakers, and marriage. The Raphael is made with brilliant white dupioni silk, with rainbow embroidery meticulously stitched on each stole end. The Raphael is a lovely stole for a wedding or Easter season. It reminds us of the beauty of love, along with the recognition that love is never a destination, but a journey to be traveled together.
The Classic Deacon Stole is a beautifully cut stole that is 3” wide at the top and has ends that taper slightly to 4” wide. It sits smoothly on the shoulder and conforms easily to any shoulder size.
(Kindly note: I do not have a physical Raphael Classic Deacon Stole to show yet, but please refer to the drawing to see what the design would look like. This is a re-imagined design based on the Priest Stole version of the Raphael.)
Measurements and Customization Options
Measurements for the Classic Deacon Stole
There are two measurements needed for the Classic Deacon Stole:
1. the hip-to-hip cross-body measure
2. the hip length measure
The hip-to-hip, cross-body measure
Measuring over your left shoulder, have the tape meet at the point you want your stole to meet and make note of the measurement. (The example measurement is 50")
The hip length measure
Measure the length you'd like your stole ends to reach from the point on your hip where your stole meets to the length you'd like the stole to end. (The example ends would be 20" long.)
Lining Fabric Color Choice
The Lining Fabric refers to the fabric on the reverse side of the stole. Each stole comes with a number of suggested color choices for the lining fabric, but requests for different colors can be made.
Lining Fabric Color Recommendations for the Raphael include:
- Soft Silver Kona Cotton (as shown in photos)
- Pewter Kona Cotton
- Dark Purple Kona Cotton
