the Augustine - Classic Deacon Stole
the Augustine - Classic Deacon Stole
Named for St. Augustine of Hippo, patron saint of brewers and theologians. The Augustine is made with two shades of dupioni silk, situated at opposing fabric grain patterns. The vibrant red silk has a horizontal grain direction, while the rich ruby red cross is cut with a vertical fabric grain. My favorite thing about this design is that the cross extends all the way to the end. The Augustine is a beautiful reminder of the holy work of theology coupled with the ever-present need for that transcendence to always reach its way to Earth.
The Classic Deacon Stole is a beautifully cut stole that is 3” wide at the top and has ends that taper slightly to 4” wide. It sits smoothly on the shoulder and conforms easily to any shoulder size.
(Kindly note: I do not have a physical Augustine Classic Deacon Stole to show yet, but please refer to the drawing to see what the design would look like. This is a re-imagined design based on the Priest Stole version of the Augustine.)
